Ok My bad. My boost install was built with _secure_scl=0 and iterator debugging turned off. Nice feature in vs 2010 is that the linker catches this and won't link the incompatible libs. VS 2008 will just link them then of course the app crashes.
All the tests passed now in vs 2008 with boost 1.46.1 now.
