Head of Active Credit Trading

Barclays Global Investors seeks a Head of Active Credit Trading.

 

Responsibilities

 

·               Manage a team of fixed income traders responsible for active corporate trading across a variety of strategies ranging from long only to long/short strategies.  

·               Overall sector responsibilities include investment grade, high yield, distressed, and bank loans. The breadth of securities types span both the cash and derivatives markets.

·               Effectively manage and develop counterparty relationships. 

·               Provide leadership and direction in an evolving and growing business to ensure optimal execution of trading flows. 

·               Demonstrate outstanding skill in the game of dealing and trading savvy, an ability to analyze pre-trade expectation and post-trade performance, an understanding of the economic implications of various trading avenues, market mechanisms, implementation shortfalls, transaction costs, and tracking error.

·               Understand the business demand of a buy-side trading desk's internal clients and partners, such as portfolio management, signal research, trading technology, and risk management. 

·               Provide oversight of the active trading function.  Oversee the implementation and adherence to trading related policies.    Work effectively with risk, legal, and compliance.

·               Provide leadership and serve on committees to enhance the trading infrastructure.

·               Oversee the recruiting, mentoring and development of trading team. 

·               Work well under pressure (market volatility, people, time, etc.) and make quick decisions that may involve difficult trade-offs.

·               Articulate and communicate effectively with the desk, its internal clients/partners, and external counter parties.

·               Good interpersonal skills, easy to work with, a team player working well with people and fellow traders, and willingness to help out the team when situation arises.

 

 

Requirements

 

·                     8+ years of relevant industry experience in fixed income trading at top tier brokerage firm or quantitative hedge fund.

·                     Experience in managing and growing a team of traders.

·                     Derivatives experience a plus.

·                     BA/BS or higher degree in a quantitative discipline.

·                     Be highly proficient with Excel, Bloomberg, and real-time trading systems.

·                     Working knowledge of UNIX, databases, and a programming language.
