Overview

 

The Alpha Strategies Group (Active Equities) is seeking a Signal Analyst/Developer to design, build and support a world-class system for daily investing and historical research. This person will help to build the next generation system while continuing to support our current quantitative investing system. We are migrating from an object-based Perl architecture to Java environment, updated to be more coherent, modular and user friendly.


Key responsibilities

·                     Assist in the redesign, implementation, and migration of the current quantitative model driven system to the next generation

·                     Support Portfolio Managers, researchers and Strategists in using the current and future system

·                     Advocate for the groups needs with vendors and other BGI groups

·                     Additionally, must work to ensure group complies with all BGI mandates

·                     Perform data analysis as part of ongoing efforts to improve the alpha generation process

·                     This position requires a person capable of assuming high responsibility for a key piece of investment software

 

Qualifications

·                     Strong programming skills (preferably two or more languages - Java/Perl /.Net/SAS /SQL or similar) on Unix

·                     Strong interest in finance and equity investing

·                     Mathematical or scientific background a plus

·                     Demonstrated track record in applying technology using industry best practices

·                     Project leadership is a plus

·                     Highly motivated team player as well as a strong individual contributor

·                     Excellent written and oral communication skills

·                     Ability to be a user advocate while developing and supporting applications

·                     Experience supporting business-critical systems (2+ years)
