general information & historie stock quotes

Dear QuantLib'ler,

I'm highly skilled in math and software development,
but I have nearly zero knowledge on the models
used in financial analysis.

Could someome point out some compact introduction
to the concepts and models?

In addition I would like to to some investigation of stock
quotes to get more customed to the analysis.
Does somebody know, if one can download the
stock quotes (or even better the quotes for options)
as number, so that one can perform some statistal analysis.
