yes, the serialization would fit my needs too. Can you give me some reference/example regarding this solution? The example coming with the installer gives me many errors.

Very related, and probably equivalent:Is it possible to implement some form of serialization for QuantLib objects?
Currently I keep a serializable object which can create the instantiations of the required objects on demand, but this amounts to keeping two copies of each object.
