Extraction issues

Kris-29
For some reason after downloading the QuantLib-0.3.8.tar.gz file, I am not able to gzip -d it.  I've used winzip win-GZ, gzip, 7-zip, and nothing seems to recognize the file compression method.  Additionally I've sent the file over to a linux box and decompressed it with gzip and an error occurred that stated the file had an unrecognizable format.  How should I decompress the file so that I can untar and install it?

Please see what I wrote less than 24 hrs ago in respone to
'[hidden email]'. Without giving any diagnostics (using
e.g. the Linux file(1) command), it it impossible for us to figure out what
you did wrong.

But as another suggestion, if you can't download on Windows, why don't you
try a download on Linux?  You may still have to right-mouse click to initiate
a binary transfer.

Kris,
since you're on a Windows box, why don't you download the zip file
instead?

Kris,
I'm afraid I can't reproduce your problem---I just downloaded and
successfully extracted both
<http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/quantlib/QuantLib-0.3.8.zip?download>
and
<http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/quantlib/QuantLib-0.3.8.tar.gz?download>,
each from a few different Sourceforge mirrors. They work as advertised.  My
suggestion is to retry, either using a different browser or choosing a
different Sourceforge mirror.
