New Member with a Quick Question!

S. Brad Daughdrill
Hello to all,

I first want to say hello to all the members.  I recently ran across your project, and I am really interested in working with you all.

My question is are there an example that use forms?  They all seem to be console applications and while they are helpful, I really want my students to start programming with forms (initially at least).

Thank you for everything ahead of time.

Brad

Brad,

My question is are there an example that use forms?  They all seem to be console applications and while they are helpful, I really want my students to start programming with forms (initially at least).

I don't believe you will find such example form because it was not the aim of the project (as far as I know). However, you can try the QuantLibXL that is a Excel plugin. It doesn't cover the whole QuantLib but there are enough functions (almost one thousand) to play a little.

If you don't mind using the console, I suggest you (and your students) to take a look at the testsuite. The (few) contributions I made to QuantLib came when I tried to change something in some test and realized that QuantLib needed some enhacement in order to make it work (Brazilian calendar, Business/252 day count, and some other things).

The tests are very focused so you guys can study the calendars behavior, daycounts, cashflow generation, bonds, yields curves and some very cool derivatives.

Regards,

Piter Dias

Hello, and welcome aboard.

No, I'm afraid that forms are outside the scope of the project (which is
simply to provide calculation engines; console applications are the
simplest layer around that that gives complete examples.)  That, and the
fact that I wouldn't know which framework to use.  I'd be interested in
seeing an example though, if you go that way.  Let me know if you have
problems using the library.

Later,

Brad,

I'd be willing to work with you to develop some forms-based examples
if you're interested. I'm new to the project, but if you have some
application examples in mind, that could help me get up to speed
faster. I'm a Java/C#/C++/C developer.

Since these apps seem to be out of band for this project, it seems
appropriate that we discuss this further off-line, if you're
interested.

You can email me at [hidden email].
